Mammography Truck RFQ Checklist: What to Specify Before Asking for a Quote

A useful request for quotation for a mammography truck describes both the imaging service and the vehicle that supports it. “Fully equipped mobile mammography unit” leaves essential design decisions open. Use the following headings to make proposals comparable.

Clinical workflow and equipment

State the expected examinations per day, staffing, accessibility needs and patient privacy arrangements. Identify whether the mammography system is supplied by the vehicle builder or by a separate medical equipment vendor. Ask each bidder to name the proposed system and document its installation and service responsibilities. If additional imaging or reporting equipment is required, list it separately.

Vehicle layout

Request a dimensioned plan that shows patient entry, waiting or changing space, examination room, operator position, equipment clearances and emergency exit. Have the imaging supplier approve the layout before body production. A floor plan is also the basis for checking axle loads and access around equipment.

Power and environmental control

Specify the destination’s available shore supply and whether examinations must continue without it. Request a load schedule, protection scheme and a description of the generator, battery or inverter where proposed. Ask for the equipment manufacturer’s allowable operating temperature and humidity, then require an HVAC design that addresses those limits.

Shielding, approvals and service

Radiation shielding should follow the equipment specification and a project-specific assessment by qualified local specialists. Ask which party prepares shielding drawings, conducts tests and obtains local permissions. Confirm training, spare parts, local service and the division of warranty between vehicle and imaging system.

Factory and site acceptance

Agree what will be demonstrated before dispatch and after installation at the destination. The checklist should cover power transitions, HVAC, access, device mounting, image transfer and documentation. Confirm who pays for corrective work if a test fails.
